Nestled in the enchanting hills of Uttarakhand, my recent stay at Hotel Himalaya in Nainital was nothing short of magical. Perched on a ridge overlooking the crystalline Naini Lake, the hotel offers panoramic views that transform with the changing light throughout the day.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by the warm hospitality characteristic of the Kumaon region.
The staff, attentive yet unobtrusive, anticipated needs before they arose. My room, elegantly appointed with local pine furniture and handwoven textiles, featured a private balcony where I spent mornings watching mist roll over the surrounding peaks.
The culinary experience was a highlight, with the restaurant serving authentic Kumaoni cuisine alongside continental options. The chef's special thali, featuring local delicacies like bhatt ki churkani and aloo ke gutke, provided a delightful introduction to regional flavors.
